June Book Club Selections

Thank you to everyone that participated in the month of May. We're hoping to grow our book club with the help of all our friends, that's YOU!!!! Invite a friend today!! While I know school is coming to an end, remember it is important to keep reading through the summer. What better way than with your friends? Below you will find book selections for June. These books are pretty cool because some are written by children, just like you and I.

• Week 4 (June 22-30) Lifecycle of a Butterfly

Can anyway catch a theme with this month's reading? :-) Once you've read your books and created your interpretation of the book, have your parent post it to our Facebook page HERE. This month one lucky reader will win a gift card to Gap Kids. Remember, you have to participate all four weeks to be entered.

May Book Club Selections

It's Finally here!!!!! Time to kick off King's Korner book club!!!!!! We are excited and I hope you and your little one's are too.

We will kick off our book club with 4 free online books from Children's Storybooks Online

• Week 1 (May 4-10): The Little GingerBread Man

• Week 2 (May 11- 17): Invisible Alligators

• Week 3 (May 18- 24):  The Weiner Dog Magnet

• Week 4 (May 25-31):  The Brave Monkey Pirate

For the younger reader, parents read the selections to them. For the older, more advanced readers, use the selections as review. Remember to post your book interpretations to King's Korner Facebook page under the weekly thread. For complete instructions and an example click HERE.

Introducing King's Korner: An Online Book Club for Children

It is with great pleasure that I announce my son is kicking off his online book club and we want all of your children to be a part of something wonderful. In efforts to develop his love for reading we noticed he enjoys it more when reading to others, especially his peers. One evening he had the great idea that he wanted to read to his "friends" around the world, so here we are. Welcome to Kings Korner. 

How will it work? 

Each month we will list 4 books, 1 per week. Once your child has read the selected book, have your child write a few sentences, draw a picture, or create a craft depicting what they have read. It should be simple, stress free, and most of all FUN!!!! Here's an example of one King did for The Three Little Pigs. 

There will be a weekly thread pinned to the top of  Kings Korner Facebook for you and your child to share their work.  There will be a monthly prize drawing for all children that participate all 4 weeks. Remember, reading is fun so lets enjoy our little ones and help them explore and grow through books. We look forward to you joining us throughout May and beyond.
